About
Founder and Executive Director of Autism Improvised. Inspired by my grandson James, I started out with a unique concept of using improv to develop social communication skills. With an incredible level of hope and energy, I formed our first summer camps in 2009, bringing a local improv professional on board. The concept resonated with our autism community, and Shenanigans was launched. As we grew in both number of classes and locations offered, we incorporated as Spectrum Arts in 2010. By 2015, we saw the need to become a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, and underwent a name change to Autism Improvised, which became the corporate home for our programs Shenanigans, Code Breakers, Brig,ht Paths and Say Yes camps.
Operating on a model of hosted locations throughout the greater Atlanta metro area, we also work through schools, municipalities, and other entities in service to the ASD population. We have now incorporated online groups into our offerings, and continue to develop and refine our approach to better serve our ASD and neurodivergent community.
