Workshop: Improv for Communication - Aug 22

Need a bit of a reset after the back-to-school rush? Our event may be the most fun you can have at a PD workshop. This immersive, interactive workshop is presented by Autism Improvised and led by Dr. Robert Domingo, SLP. PhD.

Discover how improv techniques can improve social communication, cognitive flexibility, and engagement for neurodivergent individuals of all ages - presented from the perspective of a recognized expert in speech-language pathology and theater, with application across disciplines,

This workshop helps the people you work with in two ways. Pick the one that fits you, or use both.

If you plan to bring improv into your practice or classroom directly: You'll leave with concrete, ready-to-use activities for building social engagement, spontaneous language, perspective-taking, and cognitive flexibility in neurodivergent clients and students - techniques you can put to work right away.

If you'll never run a single improv game: The training itself changes how you show up in every session, lesson, or interaction. Improv only works if you fully take in what the other person just offered, so it trains listening you can't fake. It also builds real tolerance for sessions that go off-script. That matters when a client or student derails a planned lesson or session, since practitioners with this training tend to stay regulated and responsive instead of anxious or rigid. You're not learning improv for its own sake. You're using it as the method to build skills you'll rely on in every interaction, whether "improv" ever comes up again or not.
